This is what happens when pro illegal immigration politicians write laws. The provide no enforcement or penalties. Thus the law has no teeth. It is as if the law doesn’t exist.

There they go again. Having failed to sway public opinion on the virtues of amnesty and mass immigration, the “compassion” crowd is focusing on the place Americans are most vulnerable: their wallets.

E-Verify, the Internet-based program that allows employers to check the working eligibility of prospective hires, has been redesigned in an attempt to make the program more efficient for its users.
The free Web-based service run by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services improved navigation tools and real-time validation of employers enrolling in E-Verify.

THE TENNESSEAN
Word-of-mouth and a state law are driving a spike in businesses signing up for E-Verify, a federal database created to help them confirm their employees legally can work in the U.S.
In a period of about four years, the number of Tennessee companies signed up for the program grew from 380 businesses to 2,717.
That’s still just a fraction of the 115,000 private and state government employers in Tennessee, but the state’s growth in usage is similar to what’s happening across the county.
On average, 1,000 new employers nationwide sign up for the program each week, said Sharon Scheidhauer, a spokeswoman with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
“Employers are talking about it,” Scheidhauer said. “We think people are getting the message. It’s easy. It’s free. It’s fast.” Continue reading Use of database to check workers’ legal status surges

A new battle over illegal immigration is rapidly shaping up in the nation’s capital.
Supporters of comprehensive immigration reform are demanding immediate legislative action from the Obama administration with a planned mass demonstration in Washington scheduled for March 21, billed as “March for America: Change Takes Courage.”
Meanwhile, Sens. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have been meeting with the White House to reintroduce immigration legislation. The bipartisan effort is reminiscent of twice-failed attempts by Sens. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., and John McCain, R-Ariz., during the administration of President George W. Bush.
Yet, Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, does not expect any comprehensive immigration reform legislation to be pushed by the Obama administration in Congress this year.
“There is very little appetite in Congress to deal with immigration reform this year largely, because President Obama does not truly care about pushing comprehensive immigration,” Krikorian told WND. Continue reading Don’t look now! Amnesty is back

The Arizona Republic
A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers led by Arizona Democrat Gabrielle Giffords is pushing for a new federal system to verify who is legally allowed to work in this country.
The proposed system promises to do a better job of preventing illegal immigrants from getting jobs than the current online system, known as E-Verify. A recent report found flaws in the existing system.
First introduced two years ago by Reps. Giffords and Sam Johnson, a Texas Republican, the proposed system is only now gaining attention following the publication of the government-commissioned report, which estimated that more than half of the illegal immigrants run through the E-Verify system are wrongly being deemed authorized to work because they use stolen identities.
